Revive rosebush and low maintenance inexpensive flowers/decorative plants that will fare well in Michigan.?

I am moving to a rental house in mid-June with some small flower beds. I have never planted anything before so no clue how to start or what to plant. I think there will be pretty good sunlight in the flower area. I know that there are some Lilly of the Valley and Daffodils in there right now. Also, there is a small rosebush. The landlord said it used to be fuller, but was almost destroyed by the previous occupants. Is there any way to revive it? Thanks so much in advance!

FlowersBirthday FlowersSympathy FlowersI live in lower Michigan and I plant a variety of flowers check your local green house or plant shop. As for the rose bush I suggest you prune off any dead or damaged area%26#039;s and feed it some miracle grow save and crush your eggshells in an old milk jug {gallon} add water to these and use the water for the rose. Cover the rose bush with an old bucket or garbage can this winter. Marigolds and pansy%26#039;s petunia%26#039;s, all grow well in Michigan and require little work. Moss rose%26#039;s and Sweet William%26#039;s are also low maintenance. Good Luck.
Reply:Aerate first around bush. Use a screwdriver (knife, whatever) and poke holes in the dirt all around the bush. Scatter all you want coffee grounds (egg shells too) around it then water with mild fertilizer (miracle grow, 1 tsp/ gal water) That should jump start the little doll. Oh, prune off any obviously damaged branches.

I%26#039;m in SC so I can%26#039;t advise on other flowers. Don%26#039;t peoneys grow well up there? What about Gerbera Daisies, dianthus,...ummm....happy gardening!
Reply:If you have lilly of the valley in the bed and they are doing well, you want to plant flowers that are shade tolerant as lilies of the valley don%26#039;t do well in full sun so the bed is probably shaded. Best option for information is to contact the county agricultural extension agent%26#039;s office. These folks are usually full of information on anything and everything and very willing to share it.hairstyles hair style
